If you want to discover Bohuslän and its sea delicacies, you have definitely come to the right place. Although this barren rock island is no larger than 14 hectares surrounded by the North Sea, it has so much to offer, here you will find the picturesque Bohuslän with houses dating from the middle of the 18th century when the island began to be populated thanks to one of the great herring periods, here you are part of the sea with all its powers and even though the fishing industry has declined radically since the heyday, Åstol with Åstols Rökeri is still a place to enjoy the sea fruits.

Åstols Rökeri offers everything from simpler dishes to gastronomic menus where fish and shellfish are always in focus. Here you can enjoy, for example: The smokehouse’s hot-smoked prawns with a good glass of wine on the outdoor terrace at sunset, sizzling seafood platters or the day’s catch inside our cozy restaurant where our chef lovingly prepares fish and shellfish with suitable accessories. The menu is constantly changing based on the availability of good ingredients and what the season offers best.

Since 1984, Åstols Rökeri has been operated in what used to be the island’s ice factory and has since developed into a venue for events with artists, weddings, restaurant and bar, both outside and inside depending on what the weather allows. People come here by ferry from Rönnäng, Dyrön, Marstrand or in their own boats to enjoy, yes it has really developed into a destination that people take a detour to visit. Here you find both locals, tourist Swedes and after being mentioned several times in the international press, we have visitors from pretty much all over the world, all united in enjoying the best our cold sea has to offer.

During the summer months we are open every day and the rest of the year we try to be open on weekends. We of course organize tasting experiences for groups throughout the year and as you can see on our website, there is plenty to discover in our immediate area such as lobster fishing and seal safaris to name a few. We have a well-equipped wine cellar, so why not start with a wine tasting before the food arrives.
